    Bipolar celebrities in the Black community waste no time admitting they have the mood swings and sleepless nights.

    Mariah Carey openly admitted to being bipolar after 17 years of balancing life with an emotional roller coaster.

    The singer told People she was first diagnosed with the condition in 2001 after a mental breakdown which resulted in her being admitted to hospital.

    This also comes after the passing of her father, Roy Carey.

    She said, “Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” she explained.

    “It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that anymore.

    Mariah also admitted living in denial for a while. The singer also mentioned her insomnia was due to the disorder.

     Other Bipolar celebrities include, Kanye West and Chris Brown.

    In 2020, Kanye West spoke out about his personal issues to the public. He also experienced a break down during his run for Presidency. His former wife Kim Kardashian spoke out about his emotional changes.

    Kim wrote, “As many of you know, Kanye has [bipolar] disorder,” Kardashian once explained about her soon-to-be ex-husband to fans and begged for “compassion and empathy . . . so that we can get through this.”

    Kimye since then divorced. After their public separation West also experienced bipolar break downs on social media and was even banned for a while from Instagram. Nevertheless, the stem player inventor seems to be doing well now and has remained quite. He is currently in a new relationship and showing more smiles than ever in paparazzi photos.

    Chris Brown received diagnosis of bipolar and stress disorder in 2014. The singers brawl in a night club in 2014 went viral. As a result, a court order demanded the singer receive rehab treatment. During the stay Brown discovered, his aggressiveness and physical outburst were due to his untreated mental health disorder. The artist experienced severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD.”

    By talking openly about their struggles, bipolar celebrities help reduce the shame and isolation that often comes with mental illness. So, next time you hear about a celebrity going through a tough time, remember that they may be battling a mental health condition.
