Singer Ashanti was set and empowered by having the opportunity to share a platform with singer Keyshia Cole. Unfortunately, the battle has been postponed to January 9th.
From the sound of it 2020 also graced Ashanti with a surprise. The singer said never had she thought she would have Covid 19.
Ashanti informed everyone that she was feeling fine, no pain, and wanted to attempt to do the Verzuz battle from home.
“It’s very, very crazy,” the “Foolish” singer shared. “Never in a million years did I think I would get COVID.”
Ashanti, who coughed a couple of times throughout her address, added that she was “super-bummed” by the turn in events.
She continued to note, “We all go through lessons in life … and hopefully this serves as a lesson that this pandemic is very real.”
The singer has been posting many if her trips on social media. On her way back from Antigua she shared a photo with a caption saying, “I heard it was safe to come back”.
To clear any alarms of Covid contraction during trips, She also shared that she did not get COVID-19 from her trip to Africa or traveling.
She explained that she got it from a family member who did not know that they were positive. When she found out her family member’s diagnosis, she got tested and the results came back positive.
Verzuz spoke out about the rescheduling, saying this is the first time Covid has struck the show this close to airing.
They also wished Ashanti a get well soon, with a warning to viewers to take Covid seriously and wear a mask.
