Tamera Housley and her family has become a statistical family, grieving a loved one over a mass shooting.
California governor-elect Gavin Newsom responded to last night’s mass shooting at an event in San Francisco Thursday afternoon.
“This is America…This doesn’t happen anywhere else on the planet. We can’t let folks forget that. We can’t allow this to be normalized,” said Newsom, who won the California governor’s race Tuesday.
As news spread of the shooting Tamera responded to a tweet from her niece’s suitemate, who said Alaina Housley was still missing after the shooting. “Ashely this is her aunt Tamera Mowry Housley. Can you please DM me your information?”
The family immediately headed to Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks as one of many other families from victims. Sadly,they discovered her neice was one of 12 victims shot and killed. Alaina Housley, who is related to Tamera through her marriage to husband Adam Housley was posted on the families social media in memory of their loved one.
Variety reported that Borderline Bar and Grill was hosting its weekly college night when the attack occurred on Wednesday. Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said an investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear what motivated the attack.
This is the second mass shooting in the U.S. in less than two weeks. On Oct. 27, a gunman killed 11 people at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
CNN reported There are currently over 200 people in line at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, waiting to donate blood to victims of last night’s mass shooting, according to school officials.
Thousand Oaks Mayor Andy Fox had pleaded earlier Thursday for blood donors to step forward.
The school had previously scheduled a blood drive on campus – but pivoted to gathering donations specific to this incident.
Donors are encouraged to make appointments at 877-25-VITAL.
