Lauren London has been carrying the couple’s legacy in the most powerful way.
A Lauren London tribute to Nipsey Hussle was loving and historically monumental.
The great Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed on March 31, 2019, in front of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles at age 33. His passing impacted countless lives, as Nipsey served as a pillar in his community and a game changer in the music industry.
Nipsey Hussle was very well known in the music industry, but not just for his music. He was also a great activist for building wealth and foundations for the future.
In 2010 Nipsey released an 18-track mixtape, called The Marathon. It featured rhymes over industry beats like Fabolous’ “You Be Killin Em” and Currensy and Wiz Khalifa’s “The Planes” (on “7 Days A Week”), as well as original compositions, showcased Nipsey’s candid reflections of who he was in 2010.
He would later use the same name and concept behind his clothing brand The Marathon Clothing, which stood for endurance in the life of success. He played close attention to the Blueprints of other great artist who created empires, like Puff and Jay Z.
Ermias Asghedom and Lauren London began dating in 2013. London reached out to Nipsey through a mutual friend to gather items for rap party. London would go on to learn a lot from Nipsey.
In an interview she said he was one of her greatest teachers. She also noted him as her safe place. Although, Nipsey is not physically with London, she says he still pushes her to do all the things he inspired her to do.
Their love and compassion for each other grew into a strong family bond. The couple shares their 5-year-old son, Kross. Much like the inspiration Nipsey gave to London, her 12-year-old son Cameron would also do the same thing. She explained that Cameron was her encouragement for returning to the workplace.
In 2021, the actress would step back into her career with a Michael B. Jordan-assisted film, “Without Remorse,” — which began filming the same year Hussle passed.
In a more recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” the “ATL” star explained how she continues to pour into their son Kross about who his father is and was.
“It’s one of the reasons why I have Nip’s notes on my [left] arm and his portrait on my [right] arm.” She continued, “It’s not always for me. It’s for my son to always see his father, You know, my son says every time he sees his mom, he sees his dad. Nip is very much alive in our household. He’s aware. He acts very much like his father.”
