President Nana Akufo-Addo has given an amount of Ghc 14, 394, 397.58 to the Ridge Hospital in Accra for the surgery of the conjoined twins.
Mr Akufo-Addo made a promise in July 2021 to pay the cost of operation of the twins.
A cheque of Ghc 14, 394, 397.58 was presented on his behalf to the Ridge Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
The twins, African Entertainment understands, were born to Rebecca Bansah. Bansah in June this year appealed to the public to help raise funds for the procedure.
The twins, who are in their fourth month, are joined at the head.
This is not the first time an incumbent Ghanaian President is paying for the cost of surgery for conjoined twins. Late former President Jerry John Rawlings paid the full cost of operations for conjoined twins when he was in power over 20 years ago.
