Cathy Hill was caught on camera involved in a Red Lobster fight with Red lobster employees. According to reports she wanted a full refund of her long wait time for Mothers Day.
Several employees at the restaurant gave the woman several assurances that she would be refunded, but that she must wait outside. The manager then attempts to remove the customer from the door again, Cathy Hill was pushed out of a Red Lobster somewhere in Pennsylvania by masked staff and/or patrons. Restrained from reentering the establishment, she attempts to negotiate a refund. She is unsuccessful. Ultimately, she strikes one of the people impeding her progress, who retaliates. An affray commences but dissipates without injury. As everyone goes their separate ways, an unseen party yells “I’m a paying customer, been waiting three hours for food!”
The Red Lobster fight is one not the first fight at Red Lobster involving employees over the last few years. Another Red Lobster fight broke out a year ago and was caught on surveillance cameras as a dispute between a customer and a waitress at the Red Lobster in Orange Village escalated into a brawl.
Police said they identified 52-year-old Darlene Brown, of Cleveland, as the one responsible for the fight Sunday night, based on witness statements and the video.
“There’s 20 people fighting in the dining room at Red Lobster… It is physical? Like punching or verbal? Yes, like punching, physical,” a caller told 911.
Red Lobster issued a statement apologizing to disappointed customers, noting that the coronavirus pandemic had impacted their ability to keep up with demand as some locations. The restaurant chain also gave assurances that all unfilled orders would be refunded.
The company issued the following statement regarding the specific incident at the East York restaurant:
“We do not tolerate violence for any reason in our restaurants. We expect our team members treat our guests with respect, and we expect our guests to treat our team members with respect in return. We are grateful our Manager and the guest involved were not seriously injured in the incident on Sunday.”
