“We were kind of cleaning up the scene and then I was walking down the street and there was a woman waving her hands, saying there’s a woman in labor in a vehicle,” said Christopher.
“[The mother] was very scared. I was very scared. I had never done anything like this before. It was just the right place at the right time,” said Christopher.
“We do see a lot of bad things in our job every day, but every now and then every now and then you have a really good day that you really carry on for the rest of your days as a cop,” said Officer Antonio Pelayo of the 17th District, who was among the responding officers.
The shooting victim is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
