According to reports details about R Kelly on Aaliyah marriage may resurface during new trial in Chicago. Per details Robert Kelly requested not to speak on the former relationship.
The “I Believe I can Fly” singer currently received a 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and federal racketeering. His Chicago trial is set to start on August 15th.
The 55-year-old faces child pornography charges in Chicago. But with his request to not talk about his illegal marriage with Aaliyah, sounds like he may face other charges.
When R Kelly married Aaliyah, she was only 15 years old.
They allegedly wedded with fake documents. The “Rock The Boat” singer was a minor and snuck into the marriage allegedly due to him impregnating her.
Robert Sylvester Kelly was supposed to watch over Aaliyah and direct her in her career. But instead, he allegedly took advantage of her youth. Sadly, she passed in the tragic and shocking plane crash and cannot speak out for herself.
However, Pastor Nathan Edmond testified last year that the then 27-year-old did in fact marry the two. Additionally, claims that he prepped her into looking older than 15 was confirmed.
In Chicago, Kelly is charged with running a years-long scheme to buy back sex tapes he allegedly made with underage girls. The five alleged victims were all underage when prosecutors said they had sex with Kelly in the late 1990s. Prosecutors also charged Kelly and two associates, including manager Derrel McDavid, with a decades-long conspiracy to silence victims and witnesses.
R Kelly’s sisters also recently spoke out on her brother’s trial.
They claim his sentencing was ‘racist’ after sex trafficker conviction.
Kelly’s three sisters, Cassandra, Theresa and Lisa are standing by their brother’s side and claiming that he is the victim in this situation.
When asked if they believe their brother has slept with underage girls, Lisa Kelly answered, “I can say he may have been with younger women, but as far as underage girls, no—and I stress underage girls. Who has seen that? I believe a lot of the alleged victims are bitter.”
