Commissioner of Police (COP) George Akuffo Dampare has been appointed by President Nana as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
His appointment takes effect from August 1, 2021.
A statement from the Presidency signed by the Director of Communications at the office of the President, Eugene Arhin, announced the appointment.
He is taking over from James Oppong-Boanuh. Mr Dampare, aged 51, is said to be the current senior-most Commissioner of Police.
He will be the youngest IGP in the 4th Republic if confirmed as the substantive IGP.
