A national court in Spain has reportedly ruled that the Spanish government can repatriate underage migrants to Morocco.
Refugee rights groups had been opposing the repatriation.
But local Spanish media reports monitored by African Entertainment on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, revealed that the court has rejected efforts by refugee rights groups to stop the government from repatriating the kids.
Reports say the Spanish government is planning to repatriate about 700 young Moroccans.
The children in question, reports say were among thousands encouraged to cross into Ceuta in May 2021 during a dispute with Rabat about Western Sahara.
Rabat is a former Spanish colony now under the control of Morocco.
Reports say the Spanish government wanted to begin the repatriation last Friday but that could not happen because a number of the children due for repatriation protested.
