The model who currently resides in Brooklyn, expressed her gratitude to Tyra Banks in her interview February 13th, 2018.
To clarify Danielle Herrington is the second black “model” to grace SI and the third black women. The explanation for this is that Beyonce was not classified as a “model”at the time.
During the models interview she teared up. She was asked why she was crying while talking about Tyra Banks. She said because Tyra has been a huge role model for her, and being in SI is bigger than her.
Danielle Herrington was also asked how she felt about modeling for the magazine with the “Me Too” movement being as powerful as it is right now. She responded that women should have a choice to do whatever they want.
Sports Illustrated also said, the magazine is to empower women, not to sexualize them. The purpose is to show women their true beauty in diversity.
