The Government of Ethiopia has accused rebels in the country of destroying thousands of health facilities.
The rebels said to be loyal to Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), according to the Government, are destroying health facilities in the northern zone of Ethiopia.
Ethiopia’s Health Minister Lia Tadesse briefed journalists on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 that the rebels had destroyed 20 hospitals, 277 health centres and 1,162 health posts in Amhara Region.
According to her, one hospital, 10 health centres and 38 health posts had been destroyed in Afar Region.
The briefing was held after Education Minister, Getahun Mekuria, disclosed on August 30, 2021, rebels had destroyed over 7,000 schools in northern Ethiopia, including 445 in Afar Region and over 140 in Amhara Region.
