Former Barcelona and Cameroon striker, Samuel Eto’o, is hoping that the current Cameroonian team can handle pressure in front of home fans during the delayed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in 2022.
He expressed his hope about his country’s national team performance during the upcoming tournament in a post on Instagram following the Afcon draw on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
He wrote on Instagram: “I hope my young teammates handle the pressure of playing at home in front of millions of Cameroonians so that we emerge victorious at the end of the tournament!!”
Cameroon have drawn Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Cape Verde in Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Eto’o is a four times Confederation of African Football (CAF) player of the year.
He retired from football on September 6, 2019. “The End. Towards a new challenge. Thank you for your big love”, he wrote on Instagram in 2019 to announce his retirement from football.
Eto’o won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
