At least 40 suspects have been arrested following a reported failed military coup d’etat in Sudan.
Local media reports cited government and military sources as announcing the failed coup and the arrest of the suspects.
Reports say the alleged coup plotters attempted to take control of the military general command and the public broadcaster’s television studios.
The suspects are reportedly linked to deposed President Omar al-Bashir. Mr al-Bashir was overthrown by the military in April 2019.
Sudan is currently being governed by a joint civilian and military government.
