A former Prime Minister of Mali, Boubèye Maïga, has reportedly been arrested over alleged corruption.
Local media reports say the alleged corruption was perpetrated during the purchase of a presidential plane seven years ago.
According to reports, he was arrested on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
He is reported to have been involved in the alleged overpricing of former President Ibrahim Keïta’s plane.
At the time the plane was bought, African Entertainment understands Mr Maïga was the Defence Minister of Mali. The plane was reportedly purchased in 2014 at a cost of $40 million (£29m).
But critics reportedly said the amount was overpriced.
Between 2017 and 2019, Mr Maïga was Prime Minister of Mali. He resigned in 2019 due to rising violence.
