Ghana is expected to reward each member of its Tokyo 2020 Olympic team $5,000.
President Nana Akufo-Addo announced this on Friday, August 20, 2021, when members of the team visited him at the Jubilee House, the seat of Government in Accra.
The President “congratulated them on their performance, and announced that each member of the team will receive a reward of five thousand dollars ($5,000), of which three thousand dollars ($3,000) will be given to you, and two thousand dollars ($2,000) used as an investment for you.”
“The medallist, Samuel Takyi, will receive a car, ten thousand dollars ($10,000), and an additional twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) put in a career development fund for him, for the next Olympic games and future tournaments,” according to Mr Akufo-Addo.
