The United Nations (UN) Security Council has been informed about rising reports of hunger-related ddeaths in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
According to the secretary general of UN, Antonio Guterres, who informed the Security Council, life-saving humanitarian efforts were being crippled.
The UN boss says Ethiopia’s decision last week to expel seven UN officials was disturbing and unprecedented.
He has therefore appealed to the Ethiopian government to allow the unhindered movement of desperately needed supplies to the region, after nearly a year of conflict.
