Eric Omondi yesterday, February 9th took to Parliament to push for his ‘play 75% local content’ bill to be passed.
The funnyman left netizens astounded after he arrived at the premises inside a cage. The comedian stated that he would camp in the modified cage outside the Parliament for months until his bill was discussed by Members of Parliament.
”Na mimi sitoki apa mpaka wapitishe bill ya hio motion yetu ya play 75%. Ntakaa apa. Kama ni one month ntakaa one month. Kama ni 2 months, ntakaa 2 months. Na mimi sikuli. Ntakunywa maji. Ntalala apa mpaka wapitishe. Maanake this is the only way…”
A few hours later, his stunt caught the necessary attention from Members of Parliament; who came out and aired his sentiments. The motion was voiced and is set to be passed.
Even though Eric has been on the frontline to fight for Kenyan artists and push for their content to be played, he has not received much support from them. As a matter of fact, some have scolded him for his actions. His beef with Sauti Sol’s Bien began when he came up with the idea of the bill.
And Eric is displeased with him and ‘the big’ musicians who have not shown him support. He called out Khaligraph, Sauti Sol, Nadia Mukami, Otile Brown, Willy Paul & Bahati; stating that they dwell much on the money they receive rather than supporting him
