Roommates, during a special Father’s Day edition of “Red Table Talk,” Kevin Hart opened up to Will Smith about fatherhood, specifically his daughter checking him for his past behavior regarding his current wife Eniko Hart and his ex-wife Torrei Hart. Kevin Hart revealed that his oldest daughter Heaven doesn’t hesitate to call him out for his actions, especially when it involves disrespecting the women in his life.
Will Smith took over hosting duties on “Red Table Talk” for a one-on-one candid conversation with Kevin Hart all about the ups and downs of fatherhood.
Kevin spoke openly for the very first time about how his public scandals have impacted his children, specifically his 16-year-old daughter Heaven, who he says always “checks” him:
“My daughter was tough on me, until this day my daughter is tough on me. Getting my daughter to understand that I was sorry, that I made a mistake — that was real. Through my public debacles, I’ve got on some armor. It’s very hard to bother me. But when your child shows disappointment, shows emotion, shows, ‘I don’t understand why,’ and you’ve got to have those conversations — (your) head drops for the first time. You realize there’s an emotional cord that nobody else has the privileges of ever touching.”
He also explained that Heaven was even more tough on him when it came to how he speaks about her mother Torrei Hart in public. “My daughter had a talk with me about her mother that rocked me. She checked me. She said, ‘I want you to stop saying because when you say these things, Dad, this and this and this.’ ‘But honey, I don’t mean — I’m just talking.’ ‘It doesn’t matter, Dad.’”
Kevin Hart is currently promoting his new movie “Fatherhood,” which is currently streaming on Netflix.
