Mariah Carey and Ellen DeGeneres Ackward Moment Is Not A Shock

Mariah Carey isn’t saying anything that she hasn’t said before when it comes to joining the list of celebrities who have had ackward moments on the Ellen Show.

Mariah Carey spoke on her own brush with DeGeneres years ago, when the host talked Carey into revealing she was pregnant amid rumors that she was expecting a child with then-husband Nick Cannon.

The singer did not just blurt this out on Vulture. She also noted it in her follow up interview years later.

“It was very difficult for me” she explained to Ellen DeGeneres during the interview. Although, the two joked about it and remained professional doesn’t exclude the fact that Mariah made it a point to inform Ellen of the uncomfort.

Reflecting on the 2008 interview in an expansive Vulture profile published on Monday, Carey said that she was “extremely uncomfortable” with the exchange at the time.

During her appearance on the talk show, DeGeneres appeared to surprise Carey by mentioning the speculation about her personal life.

“Don’t discuss that,” a shocked Carey said in response, before DeGeneres  handed her a flute of champagne, in an attempt by the host to get Carey to prove she wasn’t pregnant. “I can’t believe you did this to me, Ellen.”

In an effort to dish out information, Ellen then offered Carey a glass of wine. When Carey didn’t sip it, Ellen DeGeneres insinuated to Mariah’s pregnancy.

Sadly, Mariah had suffered a miscarriage and did not want to discuss it.

Carey continued to say, “I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath,” Carey told Vulture. “I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.”

The butterfly queen isn’t bashing or throwing Ellen under the bus, rather using this as a learning lesson.

Mariah Carey stated,“empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented.”
