Tourists who have fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) can once again visit Mauritius.
Mauritius reopened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists after 16 months of closure following the outbreak of the pandemic.
Local media reports say no restrictions relating to movement will be imposed on fully vaccinated tourists. Mauritius’ economy is largely dependent on tourism.
But the coronavirus pandemic led to the closure of several hotels. Other hotels were used as quarantine centres.
Reports say the number of tourists arriving remain low, with hotels reportedly registering less than 40% of occupancy. .
The government of the Island has fast-tracked its vaccination campaign that has seen over 850,000 of the 1.3 million population vaccinated.
