Mel Robbins who is an author and empowerment coach and the host of Mel Robbins Show suffers anxiety during covid 19 lockdown. According to Dr.OZ 72 percent of Americans will experience some kind of anxiety during the stay at home order. Mel went on the Dr. Oz show to talk about her experience and how she overcame her anxiety.

So how can you cope with anxiety? Mel suggest the first thing to do is identify it. “If you can name it Dr. Oz you can tame it”. Picking better coping methods, by self talking to your feelings, “Here I go again over functioning, her I go over functioning. Pick better coping mechanisms then driving yourself into a wall, or driving yourself into the couch and not getting up.”

Follow a routine. “It’s all about making and keeping small promises.” Mel Robbins recommends setting your alarm and getting up when the alarm goes off, instead of laying in bed or ignoring your next task. Set time out of each day to do something for yourself. Also, maintaining some type of physical activity regularly, “We store tension and emotion and stress in our body.”. Watch the eating, ” It’s very tempting to succumb to emotionally eating.” Maintaining and sticking to healthy eating makes you feel more in control.

Don’t stick it out alone. Phone a friend, “If you allow thoughts to stay up here (brain) everybody, in your mind. They take on a life of their own.” even if you can not phone a friend, email or text someone to release your thoughts. “Plus I’m sure if you are able to talk to a friend, that human connection will remind you, you’re not alone and they will reassure you and bring you back down to planet earth.”

Mel Robbins says she hadn’t experience an anxiety attack in years until now. If you are experiencing an anxiety attack try theses rules … and seek help.
