The widow of late South African President, Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel, has called for an end to violence against women and girls in South Africa.
The activist and campaigner made the call in her speech during an online lecture held to mark the 90th birthday of Anti-apartheid icon Desmond Tutu.
She stated “Violence is the breast milk we feed our young.”
The former First Lady complained about the high incidence of teenage pregnancy in South Africa.
She called efforts to be made to identify and punish incidents of rape, sexual coercion and abuse as well as incest.
