At least 145 civilians have reportedly been kidnapped by a rebel group in western Ethiopian.
The kidnapping, according to local Ethiopian news reports monitored by African Entertainment, took place in the western Benishangul-Gumuz region.
Reports say the kidnapping followed heavy fighting with security forces that displaced thousands of people.
According to the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), a group calling itself the Gumuz People’s Democratic Movement (GPDM) abducted the civilians in Sedal Woreda after the clashes.
Reports added that there have fierce fighting between local security forces and the rebels since Sunday.
