    Russian YouTube Channel Airing On Ukrainian YouTube Channel was Blocked

    Headlines trending say a Russian YouTube channel airing On Ukrainian YouTube Channel was Blocked. According to reports, YouTube channels of media outlets RBC, TV Zvezda and Sputnik have been placed on restrictions by Google.

    Zvezda is a Russian state-owned nationwide TV network run by the Russian Ministry of Defence. As of January 2008, Zvezda’s CEO was Grigory Krichevsky, previously known for his work on Vladimir Gusinsky’s NTV Channel in the late 1990s.

    Sputnik is a Russian state-owned news agencynews website platform and radio broadcast service. It was established by the Russian government-owned news agency Rossiya Segodnya on 10 November 2014.

    In 2000, RBC launched a free webmail and hosting project, one of the largest projects of its kind in Russia. According to reports,

    In 2003, RBC launched RBC TV, the first and the only business channel in Russia.

    RBC was recognized in Russia for investigative journalism, including reports on corruption and abuse of power.

    The regulator, Roskomnadzor, said it wanted all restrictions imposed on the Russian-language YouTube channel to be removed.

    YouTube spokesperson Farshad Shadloo said in a statement, “we will continue to monitor new developments and may take further actions.” The video giant, part of Alphabet Inc.’s Google, has said it will restrict access to state-funded RT, formerly known as Russia Today, and “a number of other channels” in Ukraine, YouTube said in its statement. Additionally, it will also limit the ways its system recommends those videos to viewers. ( source )

    Last Friday, Moscow said it was partially limiting access to Meta Platforms Inc’s (FB.O) Facebook, accusing it of “censoring” Russian media.
