Starbucks has been one of the best and biggest places to go when people meet for business deals or just to socialize. Two black men suffered the consequences of doing the norm. As they sat waiting for a friend a barista calls the police, which results to their arrest.
The incident was caught on video where a woman is heard in the background saying “they didn’t do anything”. Another guy is caught on camera asking the officers why the two men were being arrested. Officers had no reply.
“The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing,” the caption of the video posted to Twitter read.
Starbucks released a statement saying “We apologize to the two individuals and our customers and are disappointed this led to an arrest. We take these matters seriously and clearly have more work to do when it comes to how we handle incidents in our stores.”
Philadelphia Police said they are conducting an internal investigation following public outcry over the arrests.
