The mailed stimulus checks are being sent for Taxing-paying Americans, earning less than 99,000 dollars per year. Americans were entitled to a one-off payment of up to 1,200 dollars, plus an extra 500 dollars for each child under the age of 17. Most Americans have already received their deposits, however Americans expecting the stimulus checks to be mailed have not. Citizens who were not able to confirm their address or information on the IRS site, or who have not attempted to will receive mailed stimulus checks.
Many are hoping these stimulus checks will reach their homes, as there were many issues with the direct deposit checks. There has also been talk of issuing more stimulus checks but that means that a new bill would first need to go through the US House of Representatives and the Senate before being approved and signed off by the President.
Two Democratic lawmakers in the House of Representatives Ro Khanna and Tim Ryan hope to push a bill for another round of relief checks called The Emergency Money for the People Act. The proposal will include 2,000 dollar monthly payment to every American over the age of 16 for up to 12 months. It also corrects initial CARES Act package mandates – such as allowing students and adults with disabilities to receive financial aid in their own right and not as a dependent. The bill would recognize that not everyone has a current bank account or fixed address allowing more payment options such as direct deposit, check, pre-paid debit card or through mobile money platforms such as PayPayl, Vemmo… etc.
the negotiation to Emergency Money for the People Act will begin at the start of next month, (June). The proposal replicates a Universal Basic Income model which would remain in place until unemployment figures return to more acceptable levels. The latest figures for unemployment in the US, which currently stands at, 26.5 million, will be released tomorrow.
