Kim Porter was a Mother and a Fashion Icon and the concept behind one of the greatest R&B songs written to date. Kim Porter was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1971. At the age of 17 Kim decided to move to Atlanta to pursue her dreams in modeling. She was the melanin magic gracing Essence and Jet Magazine. She had great looks and personality, as she played roles on televisi0on shows like “Law & Order”, “Wicked Wicked Games”, and VH1’s “Single Ladies”.
Kim Porter was adorable on screen and magazine covers, and apparently when it came to finding lyrics to a song. The model dated a 90’s hot guy, singer and writer Al B Sure. Soon after their courting Kim found 0ut she was pregnant with her now 27 year old son Quincy Taylor Brown. Her boyfriens at the time, Al B Sure worked with Jodeci, producing the second single off of their debut album. As they were looking for lyrics Kim became the topic. Al B Sure started the song off with “So You’re Having My Baby”. The song ” Forever My Lady” was released August 13th, 1991. It went on to become a certified multi platinum song by the Recording Industry Association of America. As of August 1995 it sold over 3 million copies in the U.S.
Kim Porter later gifted rapper Sean Puffy Combs with more children. The couple gave birth to Christian Combs, Kimberly’s second son on April 4th, 1998. In 2006 the couple had twin girls D’lila Star and Jessie James Combs. The Combs family was the portrait of a blended family, as P Diddy loved and cared for his older son Quincy by Al B Sure, and also made it important for all of his children to support each other. The full family consists of Quincy Brown, Justin Dior Combs, Christian Combs, Jessie and D’Lila Combs, and Chance Combs.
On Thursday, November 15th 2018, Kim Porter ascended, leaving legacy to her family, from conquering many roles in her life. According to TMZ reports she had been experiencing flu like symptoms or possible pneumonia, and had been in contact with her doctor the day before. Kim Porter was 47 years old.
