Tracee Ellis Ross’ Behind-the-Scenes Take of Her Photo Shoot Has Fans Confusing the Actress with Her Superstar Mom

Tracee Ellis Ross’ latest behind-the-scenes take from her photo shoot on Tuesday, Aug. 10, had fans mistaking the actress for her legendary mother, Diana Ross.

In the initial Instagram Reel, a 15-second multi-clip video, the “Black-ish” star was seen posing and dancing along to Silk Sonic’s chart-topping song “Leave the Door Open.” Ross revealed in her caption that this photo shoot is for her new Tiffany & Co. campaign ad. She wrote,”@jawaraw had my curls living their best life at my @tiffanyandco campaign shoot! #TiffanyT1 🎥: @ruba.”

As Ross’ followers began to view the video, many pointed out how much she favored her mother.

“Dead thought this was Diana 😍.”

    “❤️😍🔥….Initially I thought this was Diana Ross…Gosh!”

“I thought you were your mom lol. ❤️😍.”

“Looking just like your Mama 😍👏🔥.”

    “🙌🙌👏YOU ARE YOUR MOTHER’S DAUGHTER. ❤️ SLAY 🙌.”

Ross recently paid tribute to her mother by recreating one of the icon’s photos, initially from an editorial piece from the 1970s. Prior to sharing the inspiration behind the image, the actress uploaded three snapshots, each separately sequentially captioned 3,2,1.

The 48-year-old is seen wearing a similar yellow ensemble like Diana and an identical beaded necklace in the homage piece as the mother-daughter duo posed with their arms behind their heads.

In addition to her latest tribute to the “I’m Coming Out” vocalist, Ross has found a multitude of ways to thank her mother for being her greatest inspiration. One includes using the legend as her focal point to her acceptance speech while being awarded the People’s Choice Fashion Icon Award last year. The star expressed how grateful she was for her mom because of her “great parenting” and her fashion sense.

“I have to thank the icon herself, my mom. Not only for her great parenting and not acquiescing to my many whimsical and outrageous requests and tantrums … but also her style… and glamour that introduced me to the power of fashion.”

She also added if it weren’t for her mother denying her a “shopping budget” as a teenager, the entrepreneur would’ve never fallen in love with vintage clothing. “Second-hand clothing helped me understand that style has nothing to do with money,” she said. “It’s the way you put things together. Style is the how, not the what.”
