Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards may cost him his Oscar award. Majority of actors and actresses in Hollywood say that he deserved the win. However, his reaction to Chris Rocks joke about Jada Pinkett Smith was not called for.
Chris Rock attempted a joke about Pinkett, comparing her to Jane from GI Jo. However, Jada is known to be struggling from alopecia which some are just finding out about.
The actor did apologize afterwards in tears.
“I want to apologize to the academy. I want to apologize to all of my fellow nominees. Love will make you do crazy things.”
Indeed, Steven A Smith felt like it was really crazy and so did Amanda Seales.
Smith said, “What Will Smith did tonight was straight B.S. Props and congratulations to him for winning the Oscars because damnit he deserved it. But boy was that a shameful act for him to commit tonight.”
Amanda Seales also reacted to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. “I can promise you, Chris Rock did not know Jada Pinkett had alopecia. I didn’t. That’s why you shouldn’t make jokes about peoples appearance. Some of yal don’t deserve comedy.”
Other celebrities including Jaden Smith supported his dad.
Janet Hubert’s fan page wrote out saying, “So PROUD OF YOU! Yes there is only so much one can take…sometimes you have to slap back. Celebrate the win…nothing else matters. Both actions were incorrect but Chris didn’t need to go there. Met him once… it was enough for me…very mean spirited.”
Jaden Smith also posted about his dad. He posted to Twitter saying, “And That’s How We Do It.”
The Oscars may be taking Smith’s award, stating it as assault.
