    Chicago Curfew details for 2022

    Due to the immense crimes occurring Chicago curfew times for 2022 have been implemented and approved by officials.

    In Chicago, a curfew for minors is in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends and holidays. The curfew applies to all minors under the age of 17, with a few exceptions such as if the minor is accompanied by an adult over 21 years of age or is attending an event organized by a religious institution or civic organization. Violators can be fined up to $500, although parents generally are only issued warnings the first time their child breaks the curfew ordinance. Proponents argue that restrictions keep young people safe by preventing them from being out late at night unsupervised, while opponents contend that they unfairly target minority youth and criminal.

    Millennium Park Curfew

    Due to the Millennium Park incident, downtown restriction times differ from inner city restriction times. Millennium Park curfew time takes place from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.

    Nevertheless, exceptions are in place. First exception applies to teens arriving or leaving work. Another exception includes teens attending ticketed events with proof of ticket. Thirdly, teens accompanied by adults.

    Some are asking what will happen to minors disobeying the law. According to Mayor Lori Lightfoot, no arrest will occur. Instead, of arrests the city implemented citations.

    This curfew change comes at a time when Chicago also plans on opening a casino in the Riverwest area.

    Commute from inner city and south suburbs require routes through downtown Chicago.

    Residents of Riverwest and Downtown state concern for high traffic and crime as a result of opening a Casion in the area.

    Some politicians support the newly proposed Casino. Lightfoot states the proposed casino benefits residence and businesses. The income prevents officials from needing to raise of Chicago taxes.
