Jayland Walker’s fiancé, Jaymeisha Beasley, passed away prior to police killing.
The 25-year-old and his fiancé dated since high school.
But a tragic car accident ended her life only a month prior to Jayland being struck down by police.
On June 27th New Franklin police chased Walker, due to alleged traffic and equipment violations. But the chase ended in 60 rounds piercing the former Buchtel High student’s body.
As family and school officials remember him, they say he caused no trouble. Additionally, remembering him for wrestling. But another thing they remember clearly is how much he loved Jaymeisha Beasley.
27-year-old Beasley passed away on May 28, 2022. Due to a hit and run driver striking her vehicle. According to reports her services was held on Friday June 10th, 2022.
On Sunday June 26th, 2022 New Franklin police in suburban Akron aborted the chase as Walker’s 2005 Buick sedan sped past the city border into Akron.
But the following day officials spotted Walker’s car and followed him on an aggressive chase.
According to police shot coming from Jayland’s vehicle led to a more aggressive pursuit.
Once the vehicle stopped, Walker stepped out of his vehicle and began to run. He sported a ski mask but no weapon in his hand.
Officers say they tried to tase him. Nevertheless, he didn’t fall.
As captured on video he ran from police but suddenly turned around. Yet no weapon in his hand. However, police officials fearfully shot at Jayland Walker. 90 bullets rang out, he was shot 60 times.
Jayland’s attorney spoke out in regard to the killing. Since his defendant’s behavior seemed strange, he understood the chase, but stated that’s, “no excuse for the shooting.”
The high school wrestler’s coach spoke on the tragedy.
“I’ve been around long enough to have kids that have tested me, pushed the limits. Jayland Walker was not one of those kids,” said Walker’s wrestling coach Robert Hubbard.
“I think [Beasley’s sudden death] did hit him and, of course, it would, hit him pretty hard that she was gone,” Hubbard said.
Additionally, his sister Jada said they loved Jayland Walker’s fiancé, Jaymeisha Beasley. As well as stating she was very important to Jayland.
