Trina’s niece Suga was only 17 years old, according to reports she was fatally shot in Miama.
Miami police are investigating the shooting. In a report by WSVN, rapper Trina appears in a photo alongside the teen, who she has referred to as her niece over the years on social media.
Law enforcement and medical examiners responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday (July 20) in Northwest 13th Avenue near 62nd Street in Liberty City. “Suga” is not from the area, and authorities are trying to figure out why she was there.
Detectives are shifting their focus on a black Mercedes SUV about a mile north of the crime scene. Two others were wounded, but they were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. (Press Play to see Footage)
Trina hasn’t publicly addressed the incident since this article was published. The investigation is still underway.
The city recently honored the “Baddest” rapper on Trina Day. She was rewarded by Miami-Dade Commissioner, Keon Hardemon said, ‘She’s an example to the young women and men. She’s no different from the kids in Liberty City now with a story to tell.”
During the event she listened to younger girls spill lyrics. There were also performances, food trucks, giveaways, and other fun activities.
Prior to the loss of her niece Suga, Katrina Taylor lost her the brother of the artist, Wilbrent Bain Jr. Also gunned down in Northwest Miami-Dade near 91st Street.
Due to a dispute with a friend devolved into gunshots.
Family relatives informed NBC 6 that she was a 17-year-old girl who was linked to a well-known South Florida hip-hop artist.
Footage of the incident was captured on a Facebook Page. According to the video Suga was an only child.
Allegedly, Trina’s niece happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But Investigations still in motion.
