Tripledemic rates are not slowing down as we reach the Christmas holiday. In fact, medical officials are warning us to put back on the masks.
During a news brief with ABC anchor Kyra Phillips, Dr. Alok Patel stated that parents have been waiting in emergency rooms with children for an entire day just to be seen.
Inundated hospital beds fill up with the flu, RSV even covid. Nearly 80% exactly one two three beds in ratio right now.
According to Dr. Patel, “we are potentially seeing a peak of the country that is not the case over here with influenza taking up right now.”
Additionally, the medical advisor stated that there are still unknowns about why the RSV surge and why it is so bad right now. But for parents out there it’s important to understand the sickness symptoms.
According to the CDC, RSV symptoms usually appear 4 to 6 days after infection. The symptoms include runny nose, decrease in appetite. As well as cough, sneezing, fever, and wheezing.
The CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said wearing a mask is an everyday precaution.
Also, that people can take to reduce their chances of catching or spreading a respiratory virus.
“We also encourage you to wear a high-quality, well-fitting mask to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses,” said Walensky. Adding that people living in areas with high levels of Covid transmission should especially consider masking.
“One need not wait on CDC action in order to put a mask on,” Walensky said. “We would encourage all of those preventive measures — hand washing, staying home when you’re sick, masking, increased ventilation — during respiratory virus season, but especially in areas of high Covid-19 community levels.”
“I want to emphasize that the flu vaccine can be lifesaving.” “There’s still time to get vaccinated,” she stated. “To be protected against flu this season and its potential serious consequences,” Walensky said.
