Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming action comedy Obliterated, which hails from the creators of mega-hit Cobra Kai.
The wild and fast-paced trailer is a two-minute tease that asks what it would be like if 24 and The Hangover crossed over. Starring Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig, the eight-episode series follows an elite special forces team after they believe they’ve saved the world from a nuclear bomb threat.
But upon waking up — and with a nasty hangover, no less — the team receives a call that the threat they neutralized was a fake and they have only hours to find and thwart the real one. The problem is, much of the team hasn’t quite sobered up, meaning they must fight through a wall of bad guys, their own personal issues and a few substance impairments to locate the real bomb and save the day.
This slightly impaired team is led by Hennig’s by-the-books CIA agent Ava Winters and Zano’s Chad McKnight, a hard-partying SEAL team leader. The rest of the group features Terrence Terrell as Navy SEAL and wingman Trunk; Paola Lázaro as Marine sniper Angela Gomez; Kimi Rutledge as NSA tech expert Maya Lerner; Eugene Kim as Air Force pilot Paul Yung; C. Thomas Howell as Army explosives technician Hagerty; Alyson Gorske as Lana, a Vegas party girl unexpectedly caught in the mission; and Carl Lumbly as CIA director James Langdon.
“I don’t care how messed up we are,” Zano’s Chad is seen saying between cuts of a candy corn DJ, camels drinking and someone getting hit by a truck. “We’re still the best in the game.”
“Even though I’m half drunk and he is fully drunk — and high — we’re the only people on the planet who can keep it from getting blown to hell,” adds Hennig’s Winters.
