
A busy stretch of the interstate in suburban Joliet is shut down after a major crash during the Thursday morning rush hour commute, with all lanes closed and an investigation underway.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred 7:48 am. in the eastbound lanes of I-80 at the I-55 interchange in Will County.
Five vehicles were involved, ISP said, including at least one commercial motor vehicle. TrafficNet reported three semi-trucks were involved, with one leaking diesel fuel.
All lanes lanes on I-80 at milepost 126.2 are closed, ISP said. An investigation remained ongoing.
Traffic was expected, including a gapers delay on I-80 Westbound, TrafficNet said.
No further details about the crash were provided.
