Multiple popular pantry snacks and frozen meals are part of a nationwide recall due to potential salmonella contamination, with the latest products impacted including well-known nut and trail mix brands sold at grocery stores nationwide like Target.
The products, the Food and Drug Administration says, all contain the same ingredient — dry milk powder, supplied by California Dairies — that was recently voluntarily recalled due to possible contamination. Even more products could be added to the recall, the FDA warned, as many brands use seasoning that contains the potentially tainted powder.
The latest products added to the list were a number of snack mixes from Fisher, Southern Style Nuts, Squirrel Brand and Good & Gather, the FDA said in a release.
The Fisher, Squirrel Brand and Southern Style Nuts were sold in retail stores, online and through QVC, the FDA said. The Good & Gather trail mix was sold in Target stores nationwide.

The nuts join a number of other popular brands and snacks also recalled for salmonella due to the dry milk powder, including:
- Pork King Good brand pork rinds and seasonings
- Utz chips, including multiple flavors from Zapps and Dirty
- Ghirardelli hot cocoa and frappe mix
- Frozen pizzas sold nationwide, including under the Great Value brand name
Some of the items may be in customers’ pantries, or freezers, or may still be sold in retail stores or at restaurants, the FDA warned. “Consumers who have recently purchased the items should not consume these products and should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement,” FDA health officials advised.
Symptoms of the salmonellosis bacteria can show up within six days, and include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, with the illness typically lasting between four and seven days. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop severe illness, officials said.
