A crash in a north suburb of Chicago prompted a five-hour closure of a major intersection, with police asking drivers to avoid the area while they investigated on Saturday.
Around 3:30 p.m., Route 41 was closed at Park Avenue West in Highland Park as police investigated a crash, according to a post from city officials on social media.
“Please avoid the area; a detour at Central Ave. is in place while the investigation is underway,” officials said in the post.
The closure snarled traffic in the area for hours.
The intersection was reopened around 7:30 p.m., officials said.
No additional information was immediately available.
