
A multi-vehicle crash on the Eisenhower Expressway left one person dead and sent seven others to hospitals on Sunday morning in Chicago.
According to Illinois State Police, a four-vehicle crash occurred in the outbound lanes of the Eisenhower near Ashland on Sunday at approximately 3 a.m.
Traffic had slowed in the area when a passenger vehicle slammed into the back of another vehicle, causing a chain-reaction crash.
In all, eight people were transported to area hospitals, with one person dying of their injuries as a result of the crash, police said.
The crash closed the right lane of the highway and multiple ramps in the area for crash investigation and cleanup, according to authorities.
There was no further information on the circumstances of the crash.
