With unusually cold temperatures in the forecast to begin Memorial Day weekend, Illinois’ largest water park is pushing back the start of its summer season.
Raging Waves, located in suburban Yorkville, said in a Facebook post it will open for the season on Sunday, not on Saturday as planned, citing “forecasted inclement weather.” The water park is expected to be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Sunday and Monday.
Information on ticket prices and new features this year can be found here.
The water park’s decision comes after multiple Chicago-area park districts opted to keep their pools closed on Saturday due to the cold weather.
Morning highs will sit in the 50s before climbing into the 60s around lunchtime and reaching the low-to-mid 70s in the late afternoon. Conditions will warm up Sunday, with values rising into the 80s.
