Raging Waves in suburban Yorkville, Illinois’ largest water park, kicked off the season on Sunday, welcoming visitors thrilled to ring in the warmer months.
The water park posted an opening day message on social media, urging visitors to come out, saying, “It’s Opening Day at Raging Waves!! Don’t let gray skies keep you away, the sun will be shining today!”
Opening day featured special activities, including a DJ, face painters and tattoo artists.
The start of the season was pushed back by one day, as the water park remained closed Saturday due to cold temperatures.
Raging Waves will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the long holiday weekend, including on Memorial Day.
New this year, Raging Waves says visitors can experience new “temperature-controlled water” in its wave pool and lazy river, offering heated water in those locations for the first time.
Spanning 58 acres, Raging Waves boasts 32 water slides, a quarter-mile-long lazy river, a large wave pool and three children’s areas.
General admission starts at around $55, while cabanas and VIP options are available at higher prices. Season passes begin at roughly $22 per month.
