A Blackstone product sold at Walmart stores nationwide has become the latest item on a growing list of popular products being recalled over salmonella concerns involving a particular ingredient.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Blackstone Products voluntarily recalled certain lots of Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The contamination concerns stem from a dry milk powder recall that may have been contaminated with the salmonella. The same powder, supplied by California Dairies, has been tied to recalls of at least a dozen popular snack items across the U.S.
The FDA said the potentially tainted powdered milk and buttermilk was voluntarily recalled April 20, and no illnesses have been reported so far.
The recalled Blackstone product was sold both online and in stores nationwide.

Other items included in the recall involved things like Ghirardelli Chocolate Powders, Zapp’s chips, trail mix and more.

“Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” the FDA alert stated.
Officials noted symptoms of fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and more are common with salmonella infections.
“In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis,” the FDA notice read.
Customers with the impacted product are being asked to “dispose” of it “immediately.” They also have the option of calling Blackstone Products at (888) 879-4610.
