The Triple Crown comes down to this.
While there won’t be a horse winning all three majors this year, there are still plenty of storylines heading into the Belmont Stakes.
The historic third event of the Triple Crown is set for this weekend, with the 158th running taking place Saturday in New York. Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will be back on the course after sitting out the Preakness Stakes, along with several other contenders looking for a Triple Crown race win.
So, what time does the race actually start? Which horses and jockeys are participating this year? And who are the favorites to win? Here’s everything you need to know for the 2026 Belmont Stakes:
When is the Belmont Stakes 2026?
The 2026 Belmont Stakes is set for Saturday, June 6.
What is the race time for the Belmont Stakes 2026?
There will be undercard races throughout the afternoon on Saturday, but the main event isn’t until later on.
The post time is scheduled for 7:04 p.m. ET this year. That can be pushed back depending on how the horses are behaving in getting to their starting gate.
Where is the Belmont Stakes held?
Traditionally, the Belmont Stakes is held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The racetrack officially opened in 1905, first hosting the race in the same year.
Belmont won’t host in 2026, though, as the course finishes up renovations that have lasted for several years. Instead, Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York, will host for the third straight year. It’s expected to be the final time Saratoga holds the race, with Belmont reopening for the 2027 race.
