Multiple Chicago pizza spots have been named on the annual “50 Top Pizza” list for the U.S. once again, but one name sits high above the rest.
Robert’s Pizza and Dough Co., located at 456 N. McClurg St., ranked No. 8 in the most recent list, a drop from last year’s sixth-place ranking.
Still, Streeterville’s husband-and-wife pizza joint ranked high above any other Chicago spot on the list, marking their sixth time making the ranking. The sixth-place spot was tied with Ribalta in New York.
Other Chicago eateries on the list were Coda di Volpe at No. 43 and then Jimmy Pizza ranked 13th when it came to pizza by the slice.
The top spots on the ranking went to Una Pizza Napoletana in New York, Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles, Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco and Razza in Jersey City.
Robert’s eighth-place spot also qualifies them to be on the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World ranking, with an awards ceremony scheduled for September in Naples.
“The pizza sector in the United States of America is constantly evolving, with many different offerings and an overall quality that continues to grow steadily in terms of variety and excellence, all to the benefit of consumers,” the three curators of 50 Top Pizza -Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere – said in a statement. “Our USA guide keeps growing larger, and this year it includes an incredible 116 establishments that we recommend to our readers to enjoy an outstanding pizza experience”.
Robert’s Pizza said it was grateful for the recognition.
