The Iceman is leaving “Madden” fans in chills — and Bears fans with a piece of history.
The “Madden 27” cover was revealed Wednesday, and it stars Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Noting his “gridiron heroics,” EA Sports called Williams “the future.”
The Standard Edition of the cover features Williams’ “signature mid-air throw” while a Deluxe Edition marks a nod to his nickname as the “Iceman,” including custom nail art with the EA Sports logo.
The two editions of “Madden NFL 27” are expected to launch on Aug. 13. A full game reveal is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, on YouTube.
Williams did not immediately comment on the feature, but he did share posts from EA Sports showcasing the cover.
The NFL later shared behind the scenes footage of Williams recreating his signature throw for the cover shot.
Williams has taken Chicago by storm in the two years since the Bears selected him first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. In 2025, he guided the Bears to an 11-6 record, a franchise record 3,942 passing yards and a wild card win over the rival Green Bay Packers. He also made a miraculous touchdown pass to send their divisional round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams to overtime.
Another Bears player has been featured on a different edition of the iconic football video game, as former offensive lineman Roberto Garza was on the cover for “Madden NFL 09 en Español.”
Last year’s “Madden” cover featured Eagles superstar running back Saquon Barkley.
