
Officials in South Elgin are urging residents to avoid a part of the northwest suburb amid a large police presence and investigation in the area on Tuesday.
Around 3:40 p.m., the Village of South Elgin said in a post on social media that police were asking residents to avoid the area surrounding 500 Oakwood Lane and the Jim Hansen Park parking lot while they investigated.
Aerial footage captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed several a large police and fire department presence in the parking lot of Jim Hansen Park, where the village said police had established command operations for the investigation.
“This is an ongoing matter and we will update as relevant information is available. We appreciate the cooperation of our community,” the village said in the post.
No additional information was immediately available.
