Schools across Ghana reopened their doors to students today, Monday, January 18, 2021, after about a year of shut down due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
But the reopening of schools comes with strong warning from President Nana Akufo-Addo to students about the need to strictly adhere to the coronavirus safety protocols.
Schools across Ghana were closed down in March 2020 following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
However, the Ghanaian Government recently gave the green-light for students to return to the classrooms.
African Entertainment has tracked leading waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Government of Ghana collaboration that has seen the fumigation of thousands of basic, junior high schools, Senior high schools and universities and other tertiary learning institutions in recent weeks to ensure students safety as schools reopen.
And delivering his live televised Covid19 Update No. 22 on Sunday night, January 17, 2021, monitored by African Entertainment, Mr Akufo-Addo appealed to students to adhere to the protocols in order to keep ongoing.
According to him, the strict adherence to the safety protocols will ensure that schools were not shut down again.
“As we take these big steps to go back to school, your attitude, your behavior, your self-discipline will decide whether or not our schools will remain open,” the Ghanaian leader stated.
