Liberia To Punish Citizens For Destroying Street Lights

The Government of Liberia has warned that it will be taking punitive actions against individuals who cause destruction to state properties, particularly street lights.

Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene L. Fahngon, served the warning on Thursday, January 28, 2021, while addressing the media in the national capital, Monrovia.

He cautioned alleged perpetrators to desist from the destructive acts.

The Deputy Minister bemoaned that the disregard for public property was something deeply entrenched in the Liberian society and needed to be addressed if the country was to move forward with infrastructural development.

According to him, the properties being destroyed are for the betterment of Liberia and should be seen as such by all and sundry.

Properties like culvert, manhole covers, public buildings, amongst others, are reportedly being destroyed by Liberians.
