Ghanaians are extremely apprehensive about whether or not a second lockdown will be introduced as a way of curbing the rapid spread of coronavirus in their country.
President Nana Akufo-Addo few days ago announced that there could be a possible second lockdown should the coronavirus situation in the country continue to worsen.
The President’s announcement was re-echoed by Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
And the situation has continued to worsened.
Latest cases, deaths
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Sunday, January 31, 2021, reported that Ghana, as at January 27, 2021, had recorded at least 15 additional deaths linked to coronavirus.
The 15 deaths have increased the death toll to 405 from the initial 390.
According to GHS, the country has equally counted 797 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the active cases to 4,665.
GHS says currently, Ghana’s confirmed cases were 65,427.
Clinical recoveries from Covid-19 have increased to 60,357, the GHS reported.
At least 125 patients were said to be in severe condition and 44 others in critical condition out of the total active cases.
The first lockdown in March 2020 was imposed across four cities including the national capital Accra which is leading in the infections rating.
