The meeting place of the United States Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government is under attack again.
According to media reports from the U.S, a car rammed a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol on Friday afternoon, injuring two Capitol Police officers and leading to the driver being shot.
A tweet sighted by Africanentertainment from the U.S Capitol Police (USCP) said “USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers.”
The tweet confirmed that a suspect is in custody adding that “Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.”
It would be recalled that on January 6, 2021, a police officer was allegedly murdered in the first Capitol attack. Some 138 persons suffered injuries that included burns, concussions and fractures.
On that fateful day in January this year, a mob besieged the Capitol, trying to halt the certification of then President-elect, Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
